I also discovered horsehair braid. It is a piece of material that originally in the old days was made out of actual horsehair, but today is only polyester, and it sits on the bottom hem and can be curved to make the bottom of the skirt sit in a more shapely way. I thought it was a little excessive as it was quite expensive ($4.50 a metre, and I needed 8.3!) but with my voucher and 20% off card I decided to go through with it to see how it works.
So it would have cost me about $65-$70 but I ended up making it for $20! One ballgown for $20! Even with the bedsheets and the boning!
The end result is more than I could imagine. I feel like a true vintage princess and I’m super ready for the ball.
