For my first one I was pretty stoked to find a pattern with a peplum. They're those lovely large ruffles that go around your waist and change a straight boring dress into something a little more fancy. With this one I've just dressed it up with a pearl necklace and white belt.

I currently own about 190 dresses. For real. I have this crazy obsession with them. I love old retro ones and ones that are swishy and ones that make you feel fancy. Dresses are just so great. But I finally decided that my frustration with the stores out there, is that they have a lot of the same thing. I heart individuality and due to my money situation (poor - that is), I have decided that the only way I am allowed more dresses is if I make them myself.
Inspired by the lovely Rachel over at http://www.imakeyouwearit.com/ who made a dress a day for the Starlight Foundation, I decided on something a little more realistic for me. I am going with one dress per month. I want to do it properly and perfect my technique, plus I have a lot of sewing patterns that I've found in opshops/thrift shops/secondhand stores for about 50cents each. Because of my money situation (poor - that is), I have decided to make dresses only out of bed linen. I call the line: 'Bedsheet to Beauty'. Copyright. I'm pretty confident I can make an old bed sheet look good; I dressed as a huge cake in high school. (the theme was desire - who doesn't desire cake???) |

FRANCISKA_SCHMOLL AuthorI live in Brisbane and love dresses of all shapes and sizes. I have such an addiction to dresses that at one point my collection was over 250. Now to quench my thirst I make them myself. Archives
