This dress drew me in because of the pattern but there's always been something about it that I don't quite like. I realised that everything about the dress was thick, and it had these tiny thin straps so I changed that to a halterneck. It feels a little better but I might have another go at the skirt later. It's too much of a boxy shape for me.
This used to be a strapless dress that fitted well, but unfortunately wasn't quite my style. I added on some straps and a belt to create a more vintage feel to the dress which, considering it's an old Target dress, works really well on it. Now I'll get more use out of it and I'm super ready for summer.
Thanks to my lovely friend Erin for the white material :) Here I've merely found some tiny little wooden ladybug ornaments and glued them to some plain stockings. I may even put on some red roses as an extra, depending how jam-packed I want them. Unfortunately, 14 ladybugs doesn't spread out too far on my legs.
Apparently a tradition at weddings is to give your guests sugared almonds. I still don't understand why. Anyway, at a friend's recent wedding, everyone at our table had them and they had been decorated with crepe paper and circles of tulle. I immediately jumped on this as a recycling opportunity (and probably because of my tulle obsession) and asked if anyone didn't want their tulle and ended up with ten circles. I'm sure quite a lot of decorations are wasted so I felt like I was doing my bit in extending the use of something that's only used on one day. I saw a video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ur7N9j5lCLY&list=FLFrOd3khlXT8pgRRodZ_10g&index=5&feature=plpp_video) about how to make a puffy organza flower but made with tulle. The end result looks like a scruffy looking flower but when I use it on an accessory or a dress it will look super fetch.
Hm. I should've asked what was going to happen to the ribbons on the chairs. So this story all begins with the Golly Gosh Prom I went to with my friends. As you were given entry you received a corsage on your wrist (adorable). Unfortunately they were tied with a slippery ribbon and numerous corsages ended up on the floor. Long story short: I collected them through the night and ended up with five. Inspired by Alannah Hill (http://www.alannahhill.com.au/) I saw some lovely flower brooches and decorations on her website and I realized I could make a flower wreath head band. However the flowers bulged a little and the bud part wasn't very flat so I put lavender ruffling between them to bulk it up a little.
